Nathan A. Steadman is a trial and corporate lawyer, with a special emphasis in construction defects, commercial/business disputes, insurance defense, personal injury litigation, arbitrations and appeals. Mr. Steadman has trial experience in a wide range of legal matters. His practice typically includes representation of clients concerning defective products and construction disputes, breach of contract, insurance claims, fiduciary and partnership disputes, real estate disputes, and other common law related issues. Mr. Steadman has also successfully handled numerous appeals in state and federal courts.
Mr. Steadman has acted as general counsel of litigation for various corporations and businesses. He also handles transactional matters including corporate formation, real estate related matters (leasing, acquisitions, funding, environmental consulting), for commercial, residential, and industrial properties.
Mr. Steadman has also expanded his practice to Estate Planning and Probate matters. After litigating several probate matters, he realized that the best document drafters are the trial lawyers who fight over their interpretation.
Mr. Steadman is a native of Waco, Texas and moved to Houston when he was in grade school. He received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1990 and was licensed to practice law the same year. He received a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1985. While at Texas A&M, Mr. Steadman was a scholarship athlete and received several awards for outstanding student-athlete, and was drafted by the USFL and entered negotiations with the NFL.
Mr. Steadman is a member of the Texas, Houston, and American Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice before all Texas State Courts, The United States Supreme Court, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, and Eastern Districts of Texas. Mr. Steadman has also been admitted pro hac vice in numerous courts in various states around the country including Georgia, California, West Virginia, Illinois, Kentucky and New York. Prior to becoming a Member of Meyer, Knight, Steadman & Taxis, PLLC, he was a Partner of Meyer, Knight & Williams, LLP, and has been associated with the Firm since 1998. Mr. Steadman practiced law on his own as well as with the international law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, L.L.P. primarily handling large class-action defense cases. Before attending law school, Mr. Steadman worked in the Oil and Gas Industry as an engineer for drilling and production companies.
Mr. Steadman has been a guest lecturer at the University of Houston Law School since 2009.

Al T. Taxis is a trial and corporate attorney, with a broad background in commercial and insurance defense litigation, including claims involving professional malpractice, personal injuries, construction defects, toxic torts and debt collection. Mr. Taxis also routinely litigates employment disputes, including discrimination claims and controversies involving the enforceability of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in litigation and arbitration matters arising from business, corporate, and partnership disputes, and claims involving real estate. His litigation practice is at both the trial and appellate levels.
Mr. Taxis’ practice includes a special emphasis in representing owners, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in all types of construction related claims. He also devotes much of his construction practice to perfecting and enforcing M&M liens and bond claims on both commercial and residential construction projects.
Mr. Taxis acts as outside corporate counsel for many businesses in Texas, particularly companies engaged in residential and commercial construction and the acquisition and sale of commercial real estate. Mr. Taxis’ transactional practice includes the preparation of construction contracts, contracts involving the acquisition and sale of businesses and real estate, employment agreements, confidentiality agreements and non-solicitation and non-compete agreements.
Mr. Taxis was raised in Sugar Land, Texas. He graduated from Southwestern University (Georgetown, Texas) in 1995 with a B.A. in political science and philosophy. He graduated from South Texas College of Law in 1998. While attending law school on a full-time basis, Mr. Taxis worked as a law clerk for Hon. Carolyn Marks Johnson of the 189th Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas in 1996 and 1997 and he later worked as a law clerk for Meyer, Knight & Williams, LLP in 1997 and 1998. He was hired by Meyer, Knight & Williams, LLP as an associate upon being licensed to practice law in 1998 and later became a partner of the firm in 2008.
Mr. Taxis is a member of the Texas, Houston and American Bar Associations. He is licensed to practice before all Texas State Courts and the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Texas.

Cody J. Hall is a trial and corporate lawyer who was licensed to practice law in Texas in April, 2024. Mr. Hall has experience in commercial litigation, personal injury litigation, intellectual property, corporate formation and governance, and various transactional matters.
Mr. Hall is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He received a Juris Doctorate and Master of Laws in International and Comparative Law from Duke University School of Law in 2021. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2018 from Trinity University in International Studies, German Studies and Spanish. While at Trinity University, Mr. Hall was an accomplished student athlete (track and field) and two-time silver medalist at the national championships.
Mr. Hall is a member of the Houston Bar, Texas State Bar, and American Bar Associations.

Joe W. Meyer is a trial and business lawyer, with a special emphasis in complex commercial and personal injury litigation. Mr. Meyer has 38 years of trial experience in a wide range of legal matters. His practice typically includes representation of clients in lawsuits concerning breach of contract, fraud, misrepresentation, business torts, toxic torts, environmental claims, insurance, products liability, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, industrial and vehicular accidents, and other common law related claims.
Mr. Meyer is a native of Alice, Texas. He received a Juris Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law in 1985. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University in 1983. In addition to a number of offices held and awards received, Mr. Meyer was president of his senior class and received the Buck Weirus award naming him as one of the top 20 leaders in his class by the faculty and administration of Texas A&M University.
Mr. Meyer is a member of the Texas State Bar and he is admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

L. Don Knight

L. Don Knight practiced tax and corporate law, with a wide range of experience in business transactions and commercial litigation. Mr. Knight was also a certified public accountant. He represented a large number of closely-held and public companies including negotiating, documenting and closing corporate stock and asset acquisition, mergers and consolidations, formation and financing of business ventures, real estate sales and acquisitions, and federal and state tax planning for businesses and their owners, including asset protection and general business transactions. Mr. Knight also represented taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service, United States Tax Court and the United States District Courts. In addition, Mr. Knight practiced in the area of Texas state and local taxation, including sales and use tax, franchise tax and property tax.
Mr. Knight is a native of Big Spring, Texas. He received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Houston School of Law in 1984. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from Texas A & M University, summa cum laude, in 1981 and was licensed as a certified public accountant in 1982.
Prior to the formation of the firm, Mr. Knight practiced with Chamberlain, Hrdlicka, White, Williams & Martin, a regionally recognized firm concentrating in the area of federal income taxation and business law. He was a member of the American Bar Association (Taxation Section), the State Bar of Texas (Business Law and Taxation Sections) and the Houston Bar Association (Taxation Section).
Mr. Knight has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law School since 2009.
